The windows have wooden sills. The full-width front porch is missing, but ghost prints show that it had a hipped roof and Tuscan columns. Originally there were full-length windows on the first floor, but over the years the windows were shortened and the voids were filled in with brick. The porch foundation is poured concrete. Although the house was built with common bond brick work, the sidewalls have been reinforced with stucco. There is a one-story addition on the rear with concrete cinder blocks. This addition is two rooms deep.

With no building permits in place, we are unsure of what purpose the scaffolding is serving.

Vacant. Built ca 1890.

This four-story brick building erected between 1910 and 1912, originally housed the Baughman Stationery Company. By 1924, the company had vacated the building, and around 1928, the Polk Miller Products Corporation, wholesale druggists, took over the space. In 1936, the Polk Miller Company is listed in the Richmond City Directory as purveyors of dog food and dog medicines at this location. The building later housed A.H. Robins, Inc., also a wholesale drugstore, and later ,an auction house. The rear of the building features very large multi-pane, metal-frame windows. There are two on each floor, and they stretch nearly from floor to ceiling.

Once the Southern Biscuit Company and Interbake Foods, this building has fallen victim to Douglas Development neglect. However, Douglas Jemal is auctioning off the building starting at $1,500,000.00 from September 26-27. The link is http://www.auction.com/Virginia/commercial-auction-asset/193001959-1628-900-Terminal-Place-RICHMOND-VA-23220.html

Built in 1927, this industrial site has been a Richmond landmark with the help of its signature roof top sign (located east of the tower atop the building). One of the largest buildings at its time in the mid-19th century, the auctioning of this building presents a great opportunity for a mixed-use venture at Broad and Belvidere Streets.

Built ca. 1900
Included in both the local and national Union Hill Historic District. The nomination form for the Union Hill district has this property listed as 2000 Princess Anne Avenue:
C. E. Hayward and George A. Dietrich were the builders for the houses on Princess Anne. Other builders that have been identified are J. W. Atkinson, Walter Douglas, George Skelton, and James Fox and Sons.
The masonry Queen Anne-style houses in the 1900 and 2000 blocks of Princess Anne Avenue overlooking Jefferson Park are without rival. The largest and most elaborate example is the dwelling at 2000 Princess Anne Avenue. The sand colored brick house has a bow-front facade topped by a hipped roof with three projecting gables. The curvilinear porch wraps around the west side of the house with paired colonettes atop stone piers.
[…] Queen Anne, 1900 ca., single dwelling. This is a 2 ½ -story, 4-bay sand-
colored stretcher-bond brick dwelling. The primary roof is hipped with 3 projecting gables: one at the western side of the front elevation atop a 2- story bowed façade; a second on the Mosby Street façade and one which terminates the rear of the house. The front gable above the rounded projecting 2-story tower has a shingled face and decorative, jug-sawn woodwork. The side gable also has a shingled face. There is a modillion cornice. The 1-story, 5-bay porch wraps around the west side. It has double columns atop brick piers, turned balusters and modillions. On the Mosby Street elevation, the porch has a 2nd level with a louvered screen between 3 bays.

Facing West Marshall Street, this Victorian-folk house is the largest in the Jackson Ward City Old and Historic District. Built ca 1915, this elegant house retains all its historical details such as original sills, one-over-one windows, the porch with ionic columns and the double-leaf, paneled doors with transoms. It is unique to its Italianate neighbors typical of the rest of the district.

Via DHR survey:
… The dwelling stands in contrast to the majority of modest Italianate-style residences found in the 00-block. The dwellings and commercial buildings in the area of expansion are significant … for their association with the residential, social and economic history of Richmond’s African-American population. In the mid-to-late-nineteenth century, the 0-block was a microcosm of diversity, including Jewish merchants, skilled tradesmen of color, and immigrants of the rising middle class of Dutch, German and English origin. By the second decade of the twentieth century, the character of the 0-block was transformed to blend seamlessly into the larger vibrant Jackson Ward neighborhood, home to the largest concentration of blacks in the commonwealth. The 0-block remained essentially residential during most of the twentieth century. The 0-block is significant … because it incorporates into the larger Jackson Ward Historic District a varied collection of mid-to-late-nineteenth century Italianate and Greek Revival-style dwellings and early-twentieth-century commercial buildings. The resources are comparable in scale, materials, style, and period of significance, 1800-1926, to the previously nominated buildings.
