Historic Richmond is excited to announce the “Beyond the Boulevard” event on Thursday, October 6, 2016.  The event is a party, art show and art auction designed to raise awareness of the potential needs, challenges and opportunities of revitalization and infill of residential and commercial buildings in Scott’s Addition and The Boulevard.  We will celebrate the revitalization of this historic neighborhood at the Hofheimer Building’s loft and rooftop spaces featuring unforgettable rooftop views of Scott’s Addition and the city.

The “Beyond the Boulevard” event will feature a silent auction of original photographs, juried by renowned photographers Karl E. Steinbrenner and John Henley.  Historic Richmond invited local photographers to capture their vision of the buildings and streetscapes of this rapidly evolving neighborhood.  Their photographs celebrate and document Scott’s Addition and The Boulevard, a neighborhood which serves as a model for Richmond’s future through the rehabilitation of old and the addition of new buildings and places.  “Change is coming to this important gateway industrial neighborhood in Richmond,” said Cyane Crump, Executive Director of Historic Richmond, “with this event we have preserved the buildings, streetscapes and neighborhood fabric through the art of photography.”

Among many other professional photographers, Honorary Chairman of the “Beyond the Boulevard” event, Alex Nyerges of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, will have several original photographs available in the silent auction.

This event will take place during “artoberVA”, the month-long celebration of arts and culture, and while the focal point of the evening will be the artistic photography of Scott’s Addition, attendees of the event will also be able to sample a selection of hors d’oeuvres from restaurants, caterers, breweries and distilleries within Scott’s Addition, including Groovin’ Gourmets, Lunch.Supper!, The Dairy Bar, Buskey Cider, Hardywood Craft Brewery, Isley Brewing Company, Reservoir Distillery and Veil Brewing Company.
