Church Hill Historic Plaques

The Church Hill Plaque Program offers research on your Church Hill historic house.  Historic Richmond started the program in 2010 in partnership with the Church Hill Association to highlight the significance of the historic building stock in the neighborhood and the importance as it relates to the development of Richmond.  Since its inception, Historic Richmond has worked with over 50 homeowners to provide information on their historic home and install their plaques.

Research includes date constructed, architectural style and notable features, first residents and occupations and if applicable significant events or persons.  The staff of Historic Richmond begins researching in the City Directories, Historic Register, publications and Sanborn Maps. The cost of researching your historic home is $150 and will be credited toward your plaque purchase.  Plaque fees vary in size and price.

Note:

Fan residents can order plaques through the Fan Woman’s Club  https://www.fanwomansclub.org/historic-plaques.html

Fan residents that are within the Monument Avenue Historic District can order plaques either through the Fan Woman’s Club https://www.fanwomansclub.org/historic-plaques.html or through Historic Monument Avenue https://monumentavenue.org/house-plaques-2/  (the two organizations produce slightly different plaques from each other)

Museum District Residents can go to the Museum District Association https://www.museumdistrict.org/online-store/house-plaque to determine if they are within the West of the Boulevard Historic District or the Monument Avenue Historic District (which includes many homes that are near but not actually on Monument Avenue).

The Fan District Association does not issue any plaques.
