2024 Golden Hammer Awards

The Golden Hammer Awards were started in 2000 with a goal of honoring excellence in neighborhood revitalization projects throughout Greater Richmond. Historic Richmond and Storefront for Community Design are partnering for a seventh year to host the awards program to recognize professionals and community members improving our neighborhoods through restoration, adaptive reuse, new construction, placemaking, and historic preservation.

The 2024 Golden Hammer Awards were celebrated Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Hardywood Richmond!

The Golden Hammer Awards honor excellence in neighborhood revitalization projects throughout Greater Richmond by recognizing professionals and community members improving our neighborhoods through restoration, adaptive reuse, new construction, placemaking, and historic preservation.

2024 Golden Hammer Winners:

• Best Adaptive Reuse / Rehabilitation: Seaboard Air Line Railroad Depot – 604 Hull Street

• Helping Hands Upward Mobility Award: Advanced Career Education Center Highland Springs – 100 Tech Drive

• Community Collaboration For Impact Award: Cool Lane Commons – 1900 Cool Lane

• Downtown Dynamism Award: Mutual on Main – 909 E Main St

• Best New Construction: Highland Terrace Apartments – 1224 E Brookland Park Boulevard

• Inclusive Vision Award: Faison Center Master Plan – 5311 Markel Road

• Best Placemaking and Urban Design: James A Buzzard River Education Center – 2025 Dock Street

• Best Placemaking – Arts + Culture: Valentine Studio – 1015 E. Clay Street

• Best Residential / Small Scale: 3006 1^st Avenue – 3006 1^st Avenue

• Placemaking X Preservation Award: 120 Liberty Street – 120 Liberty Street, Petersburg

• Best Restoration: Hotel Petersburg – 20 W Tabb Street, Petersburg

• Richmond Grande Dame Restoration Award: The Taylor House – 2325 Monument Avenue

• Teens’ Choice Award: Taylor Farm Park – 200 Whiteside Road
