Join us for a tour of a private Hampton Gardens residence, a rare historic cottage in Richmond’s West End. Dating to the mid-19th century, this one-story, Italianate dwelling features a low hip roof, S-curve brackets supporting deep eaves, 11 foot ceilings and historic outbuildings. An 1881 deed shows the cottage on a 99 acre farm named “Sharon”, owned by the Williams family, several of whom were instrumental in the founding of the University of Richmond’s law school. Today, the residence sits among the stately Colonial Revival homes of a Westhampton neighborhood developed by businessman Abram L McClellan in the early 20th century.
