Drawing on History: Infill Design Competition
Historic Richmond recognizes the needs and challenges of designing new construction on empty lots within the City of Richmond’s Old & Historic Districts. We are committed to maintaining the historic architectural integrity of Richmond while accommodating new buildings that will create our future legacy.
In an effort to encourage thoughtful and creative design and dialogue, Historic Richmond is hosting Drawing on History: Infill Design Competition. We believe Richmond’s irreplaceable built environment defines its character, and are committed to maintaining and building on that unique sense of place.
We invite students and professionals to submit design plans for single or multi-family dwellings on standard size lots, using 1) the Standards for New Construction as defined by the Handbook and Design Review Guidelines; 2) sustainable building methods; and 3) affordable pricing.
In partnership with the Branch Museum of Architecture and Design, designs will be exhibited at the Branch Museum of Architecture and Design. The competition will be judged by a panel of 3-5 professionals with multiple categories of recognition. Submission is free.
