National Theater

Year Built: 1922

Architectural Style: Italian Renaissance Revival

District: Broad Street

This theater is located outside of the Broad Street Historic District. It features an Italianate exterior with Adamesque interior. C.K. Howell was the architect. The interior plaster work was done by Ferruccio Legnaioli. Historic Richmond and Preservation Virginia purchased and saved the building from demolition in 1989. The National is now a well-known music venue.
